Who

Who is your audience?

Think a few moments about who your presentation is targeted at.

  • Are you presenting to students?
  • Are they experienced or novices?
  • Do they have any understanding of what you’re talking about or will this be an entirely new concept to them?
  • Are you presenting to people like yourself or a completely different audience? (This is especially important for technology professionals to consider as they may be presenting to a non-technical audience)

There are many ways you may need need to re-position your information in order to make sure that it lands correctly at your audiences feet.

Is there prerequisite knowledge you are assuming they have? Is there some background or a level-set they all need?

You can go as high level or as deep as you want on this one. Some presenters may even dive into attendee demographics to understand the audience ages, gender, or even political leanings!
