Our speakers:

Don Zeunert – BMC  zIIP stealing GCP MSUs time for capacity management – Many customers have exceeded their current zIIP capacity with without even knowing it.  In the future, there will be more zIIP eligible workloads.  Plus, zAAP on zIIP means less MP effect but also fewer controls.  How can you get more zIIP capacity and control?  Who is using it?  IBM has provided numerous methods to address these concerns, which will be discussed in this session.

Kat Lind – Solitaire  Security of Corporate data is important: How-to recommendation for Hardware and Software – The need to incorporate secured data and processes has changed to an essential technology component for all sizes of organizations and has become a growing and complex challenge to business.  Reducing vulnerabilities and minimizing consequences in complex cyber networks are increasingly difficult to achieve goals. Business can focus on the impact to the business operation, organizational assets, and prevention and remediation costs. IT analyzes where the data is safest. The question for CPM engineers is which options will provide cost-effective, responsive options to safeguard corporate data. This session will discuss those considerations in view of recent hardware and software options. For those interested, she can answer z14 questions.

Greg Scriba, and Clem Chang – BMC    Cross Platform Capacity Analysis – Long Ago, in a Galaxy not so far away, the Capacity Planning process was honed to a fine art for the Mainframe, Unix and Windows platforms.  Workloads were understood and to some degree steady.  Increases in workloads were more reasonably reflected by the growth in the applications that used them.   In today’s disruptor application usage, business capacity management deals no longer with set of Online and Offline processing.  It is a complex web (pun intended) of multi-platform resident kernels of application code driven by non-standard usage patterns. This presentation will deal with techniques that can be used to better correlate actual business application usage with what you have in the way of platform specific KPI.  This will help you better understand where to get the information, correlate it and project that correlation into your forecasts.

Andrea Gallo – Moviri – Enterprise Business Capacity Visibility – In the search for the critical balance between supply and demand, a mature Capacity Management process has the ultimate goal of explaining System Performance Activity by means of Business Activity. Business-Aware Capacity Management provides the methodology to solve this challenge. The ultimate result is generally achieved by creating correlation analyses and QN models. However, for some complex IT infrastructure, this options is not always feasible due to the impossibility of creating effective analysis. In this presentation, we will discuss an unconventional methodology applicable in different area of an IT infrastructure, that resulted in real savings for an IT Health Care provider.
