Pub Pub

All delegates at CMG'11 are invited to attend a 'pub pub' meeting on Wednesday 7th December at 18:00 in the 'dry run' room, Baltimore 2.  This will be a gathering of the publications committee including the editors and the editorial team in a pub environment (that is, with some drinks and 'nibbles').  Anyone who is interested in becoming a contributor to MeasureIT or The Journal is very welcome.  It is an opportunity to 'meet the experts' and discuss possible articles, how best to produce them and get them published.

Looking To 2012

1          Leonid Grinshpan,       Enterprise Applications in the Cloud: Non-virtualized Deployment

Leonid continues on his discussion of Clouds.  In this installment he explores through modeling that Cloud infrastructures running enterprise applications without virtualization do not discriminate: when overloaded all applications are punished with delays equally.

2          Allen Blackburn,          Book Review: Storage Network Performance Analysis

Allen was the winner of our book review contest and is taking on a topic that is becoming more and more relevant with the convergence of networks with his book review.

3        Scott Chapman,              WILTM - End of Year Collection

Scott closes out 2011 with another 'What I Learned this Month' article.  This month Scott pulls together tidbits that didn't make for a full article but together do.

4        James Brady,                  Putting the Virtual Users You Use for Load Testing In Their Place

James makes a foray into load testing and shares with us how, as things scale, we can successfully test web applications without having thousands of virtual users.

5        Steve Guendert,              Book Review: Cloud and Virtual Data Storage Networking

Steve says that this book is the ibuprofen to making cloud computing information overload headaches go away.  Sounds like a good book!  Read the review.

6           Tom Kelman,

Margaret Greenberg,               Regional Meeting Reports

Tom reports on the KC CMG sponsored Conference on Cloud Computing and Margaret tells us about a very hot day in Milwaukee.. oh yeah they had a real good meeting too.

7        Stephen Balzac,              Work Compression Paradox

Stephen shares with us the first of many articles with a management focus.  This one explores the effect of setting limits and the positive results that can be achieved.

8        Ted McGavin,                  CMG'11

The conference will be here in a week!!  Everything starts on Dec 5th!  Ted lets us in on the final agenda, the late breaking sessions and our new iPhone App!!  Yes you can navigate CMG'11 with your iPhone.

9        Tom Kelman,                  Events, notices for national/international chapters

Tom Kelman provides his usual useful summary of upcoming regional and international events and some initial dates for 2012 planning.  Seek one out in your territory (we have chapters in many areas!)  and give it a go.  It will be well worth your time!

10      Rick Lebsack,                  Looking to 2012
