Ron Kaminski shares with us "Capacity Concerns in a SaaS and Cloud World," a fascinating look at some challenges many may not have considered when embracing SaaS or Cloud. Forewarned is forearmed.
David Stephens talks to us about The Challenges of Monitoring Composite Applications. Clearly illustrated he explains the problems and how to approach them. If you are trying to manage this kind of application, this primer will save you time.
Adam Grummit has kindly provided us with a final excerpt from his book, Capacity Management: A Practitioner Guide. This section is entitled "Drunken Models and How to Evaluate Them." Without getting bogged down in the math, Adam helps us understand how to model while understanding what we are doing.
Dr. Thomas Bell is back this month with another installment of "Preparing for Your Final Career: Retirement." This month, he shares he shares the things to fear in retirement. Again, Dr. Bell dares to share the challenges he has faced and how he has managed them, to help us go through this lifestyle change more easily. This article is worth reading, whether you are close to retirement, have parents challenged with this issue or simply want to get started early.
Denise Kalm presents another edition of "Your Career Coach" with "Silence is Golden." Those who know Denise may find this topic a big strange, but we all have our growth edge and this one is a great place to work when you find that talking just isn't working.
Michael Hines is back with a review of "The Definitive Guide to Application Performance Management" by Greg Shields, a work in progress that is available free on the net. As always, Michael's review will help you decide whether to invest the time in this book, so check it out.
A great review helps us focus on just those books we need to do our job. Check it out.
Margaret Greenberg managed to connect with Mario Morino and as always, did a great job of portraying the career and life of this man. We have all been inspired and influenced by many people in our career and for a lot of us, Morino and his work has been instrumental in helping us forward our careers.
