CMG’09 Update

May, 2009
by Dave Thorn, CMG’09 General Chair

CMG'09, this year's annual CMG conference, will be held in Dallas, TX, at the Gaylord Texan hotel from December 6-11.  The Gaylord Texan is a large, beautiful venue for a conference and I'm sure you'll love it.

Plans for CMG'09 are moving at a brisk pace.  For example, we have already announced our Keynote and Plenary speakers.  The Keynote Address, The Impact of Software as a Service (SaaS) on the Enterprise Data Center, will be delivered by Amy Wohl, President of Wohl Associates.  The Plenary Speaker is Jeff Nick, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for EMC Corporation.  His presentation is titled The Next Revolution in Computing: The Virtualized Data Center Meets the Cloud

As you can see from these two titles, CMG this year is featuring some of the hottest topics in IT: Software as a Service (SaaS), Cloud Computing, and virtualization.  I would encourage any of you who have experiences to share in these areas to write a paper or presentation about them, even if you've just dabbled in them.  Sharing experiences is what CMG is all about, and this is a great opportunity for you to share yours and participate in the top conference of its kind.

Program Chair Bill Jouris and his committee are searching for papers and presentations to fill out our 2009 agenda.  Take a moment to go to CMG's website and look at the Call For Papers.  (http://www.cmg.org/conference/cmg2009/call-for-papers.html)  There is a subject area there that fits what you're doing.  Share your knowledge and experiences with us!  So please write a paper or presentation for CMG'09.  If you need help, we have Mentors available who will be glad to guide you through the process.

Also, go to http://www.cmg.org/cgi-bin/volunteer.pl on the website and become a CMG volunteer.  We always can use help building and running the conference.

CMG is your conference.  Help us out by volunteering or presenting.  If you can't do that, then attend!  Conference registration is now open, so grab those budget dollars before they disappear.  Point your browser at http://www.cmg.org/conference/cmg2009/reg.html for more information.

I hope to see you in Dallas in December!
