CMG Benefits... Priceless

I have been doing mainframe performance and tuning for a long, long time. It dawned on me that my years of mainframe experience might be of help to other Perftuners who are not so experienced. I submitted a paper; the topic was accepted, I attended the 2006 CMG conference in Reno, Nevada as a speaker.

I had not been active in CMG for many years, so I had to wonder if my money was being well spent. As a 'seasoned' mainframe performance analyst, I was concerned that the conference had begun to cater more toward the client-server arena. Arriving late at the "opening night" PARs, I immediately began searching for a table that had the look of 'mainframe' experience... that is, older attendees. To my surprise, the first table I came to met my "experience" qualifications and had one open chair. As an added bonus that would later change my life forever, the available seat was right next to a 'younger' woman.

I made a friend that evening at dinner.

The conference itself exceeded my expectations and my efforts as an author rewarded me with a "best paper" award. What could be better? Based on my positive experience in 2006, I attended CMG 2007 in San Diego. My new friend also decided to attend.

On January 26th, 2008 I had the honor of marrying the woman I met at that table in Reno in 2006. Nancy Williams is now Nancy Perkinson.

Bruce and Nancy Perkinson hope to see you all at Las Vegas for CMG 2008!

It's not ALL about technology.

Thank you CMG!
