An update from the New York CMG

June, 2007
by Ellen Friedman, Chairperson

The New York CMG region holds three meetings a year in the Wall Street Financial district. We hold a fall, winter and late spring meeting and we typically have a vendor sponsor our meeting. Our members include IT professionals from the financial, banking, insurance and software industries from the New York metropolitan area.

BMC Software, who sponsored our meeting held on June 1st, presented a session on "Maximizing the Business Value of IT". The presentation reviewed a solution that BMC Software, in partnership with MQSoftware, developed that addresses the challenge of cross-platform Transaction Management from a business and technical perspective.

We were fortunate to have the CMG 2006 Mullen Award Winner, Frank Bereznay speak on "Using Statistical Techniques to Interpret Service and Resource Metrics" which our attendees greatly enjoyed. The day included a presentation from Dr. Carl De Pasquale discussing Java performance and modeling, Yori Lavi of Optier presented "Managing Performance of Clustered, Load Balanced Applications" and Jie Lu of BMC discussed "Measuring and Modeling the Performance of the Xen VMM".

I would like to thank BMC for sponsoring our meeting and our officers and directors who helped make this event possible. Our officers include: Jack Mintz, secretary, Sidney Soberman, treasurer, and Evan Jensen, director. Our next meeting will be held on October 12th. Please mark your calendars now.
