Extending ETL Framework Using Service Oriented Architecture
Mohammed M. Awad
Mohd Syazwan Bin Abdullah

Complexity of components extensibility is a main problem in the ETL area, because ETL components are tightly-coupled to each others in the current framework. That causes impediments to add new components to the ETL framework. This session shows how to restructure the current ETL framework based on SOA; to be easier to extend. The distribution of ETL components while keeping interoperability between them; can be achieved by SOA.
A Classified-Fragmentation component to enhance the report generation speed is added to the new framework; as a proof of the extensibility concept.

Case Study
A Survey of Business Transaction Monitoring Solutions
Peter Johnson, Unisys

Maintaining desired application service levels for your customers is important for keeping your customers happy. But what happens when those service levels cannot be met and customers start to complain? In multi-tiered environments such as those used by service-oriented architecture (SOA) and cloud applications, how can you determine which tier is the root cause of the problem? This is the problem the Business Transaction Monitoring (BTM) solutions attempt to solve; they monitor business transaction end-to-end and provide insight into where those transactions run into problems.
